New Wine Arrivals June

We've brought in some new wines.  Stop in for a tasting and give us some feedback!

  • White Knight Viognier

    • Swooping in to rescue your palate from the ordinary, this sleek, rich Viognier will excite the senses and tickle your fancy. Flirtatious green apple, honeysuckle and white peach aromas playfully engage with flavors of pear and melon. A medium to full bodied white wine, with a balanced and sustaining finish.

  • Plungerhead Cabernet Sauvignon

    • Deep purple in color, with dark alluring aromatic notes of blackberry, molasses, leather, cinnamon and toasted cedar with hints of mint and rosemary. The first sip shows juicy flavors of dark ripe cherry, raspberry compote, graham cracker pie crust and toasted marshmallow. The finish is long and drying with notes of plum, vanilla and toasted pecan.

  • Niepoort Tawny Port

    • Niepoort tawny, with an average age of three and a half years, originates from low yielding vineyards in the Cima corgo region of the Douro Valley. Brick red/tawny in color, with delicate nutty aromas and a hint of dried fruits. On the palate, very well balanced with a youthful fruity, luscious character, which integrates well with a long spirity finish.

  • Quinta do Noval Fine Ruby Port

    • This is a deep-colored, lively, peppery wine, full of fresh fruit flavours. An ideal Port for informal drinking. Bright ruby color. Intense youthful nose with a distinctive fruity character reminiscent of wild cherries. On the palate, it is well balanced, with intense fruit and good length. Drink it slightly chilled as an aperitif or at room temperature with a dessert.

Wildflowers and Dragonflies

Wildflowers are in full bloom and dragonflies are buzzing.  Perfect time to take a break, stop and enjoy the scent of wildflowers in Hayward, Wisconsin.  After your time in the woods or on the lake, stop into the shop for a glass of wine and hot eats.  We'll be waiting and ready.

Wine Tasting Flights

We're creating some prototype wine flight trays to make our wine tastings more customer friendly.  We'd appreciate your feedback on the concept.

The problem:  When the winery fills up with folks, it's sometimes tough or us to get around and keep everyone's glass filled with wine.

The solution: With the flight trays, you pick three wines from the tasting menu and we'll pour you three, two-ounce carafes and give you a wine glass. You can sip, converse and refill at your leisure without ever having to wait.  In a group?  Everyone can order different wines and share tastes from their carafes with everyone at the table.  And of course, we'll stop by to check in and answer any questions you may have about the wines.

We'll be out in the garage all week making a dozen or so trays. Stop in over the next couple of weeks and give a flight a twirl. Let us know if the concept works, or if there's something we can do different or better!

    Now Serving Ciders on Tap

In a nod to spring, we've brought in a couple of ciders to serve on tap.  The Cider Farm, out of Mineral Point, Wisconsin, specializes in ciders made from English cider apples.  Most of these trees had been planted in America, but were cut down during Prohibition. The Cider Farm is bringing them back to Wisconsin.  The Classic Dry is made from a blend of Major, Kingston Black, Somerset Redstreak, Chisel Jersey, Dabinett, and Liberty apples. The result is a light, yet complex cider that's got just the right blend of sweetness and tannins,  leaving you wanting just one more sip.  B. Nektar Meadery, out of Ferndale, Michigan, makes craft cider, mead and beer.  The Zombie Killer is a hard cider with honey and cherry juice added.  Tart cherry sweetness up front, followed by crisp apples and finishing with a creamy honey to compliment the tartness of the cherry.  Crisp, clean and refreshing.  Stop in for a pour!  Like what you taste?  Take a couple three bottles home with you.
