Paintings by Katie George

Come enjoy a show in the Patricia MacLaughlin Gallery, housed within Out of the Woods Winery. We’re currently blessed to host a show by local artist Katie George. Her works feature watercolor paintings of the North Woods, cottonwood driftwood carvings, and beautifully carved and detailed fairy houses. You can see an online display of the gallery by clicking here. And as always, pieces are available for purchase at the winery.

Our Past

Out of the Woods Winery is a new take on an old dream.  Long-time visitors to Hayward are familiar with HookStone Winery, founded over twelve years ago by Richard Halajcsik, who operated the winery under the motto, "Bringing Nappa to the North Woods."  HookStone had a long and successful run until Mr. Halajcsik's passing in January, 2017.  Purchased in the fall of 2017, HookStone Winery is open once again under new management and a new name: Out of the Woods Winery.  Stop in and check out our take on life's simple pleasures: Good Company, Craft Drinks, and Hot Eats.

Our Present

Out of the Woods Winery is a MacLaughlin Family collaboration. We are open and serving wine for tastings, by the glass and by the bottle.  We have a selection of wine, cider and mead from wineries in Wisconsin and all over the world. We’ve recently started making our own wines and ciders as well. If you are a fan of the ol’ Hookstone red wines, we’ve finally received a road map and clearance to bottle them. We had to print new labels as part of the road map, but we’ll have a limited supply of the Cabin Cab-Zin Blend, Sunfish Petite Sirah, Panfish Port, Northern Pinot Noir and Musky Merlot in bottles by Memorial Day. Once they’re gone, they’re gone.  We’ll also have two of our new ciders - Cider Hound Raspberry Rose and Cider Hound Cranberry Kiss - on tap and available to take home in growlers. We’ll be announcing the six paintings we’ll be using for our new “Patricia MacLaughlin Gallery Series of Wines” soon! We hope to have these in bottles by June 1. Feeling peckish? Try a flatbread pizza, a meat and cheese plate, a hot pretzel or baked brie.  Take a load off - stop by for bite, a glass of wine and good company.

Come ENjoy the Wisconsin North Woods.

We'll be waiting, ready to share our take on Life's simple pleasures:

Good company, craft Drinks & hot eats.
